“Queering the Qur’an” - Michael Muhammad Knight for VICE
I saw Knight post his article on facebook last night and a flurry of comments came- critical of his allyship, context etc. It’s a breath of fresh air to see him use a platform that reaches today’s alt youth to explore the hardship of identifying as queer and muslim. Yeah, he can’t be an ultimate authority on the matter, but his attempt to clarify interpretations of the holy text is really cool and serves as a resource for all those kids out there (especially on tumblr) facing a jihad that is exactly this. Props for delving into the subject matter and for originally turning me on to the taqwacore movement as a yung youth. -H
